The elementary school students from Grade I to Grade V gain adequate exposure to a range of texts and tasks. Rigor is also infused through the requirement that students read increasingly complex texts throughout the grades. Elementary teachers cultivate and foster the foundational skills of reading, writing, thinking, speaking and listening for all the students. The reading program is the primary approach used throughout elementary literacy instruction, our elementary students read with sufficient accuracy & fluency with a capacity to understand texts across a range of types and disciplines.
Mathematics is taught everyday at the elementary level, and this is supplemented by a variety of other resources that support, enhance and extend the learning experience for students. The aim is to have students develop a deep understanding of math concepts and positive attitude towards mathematics. The maths instruction is a balance of direct instruction, projects and on-going practice.
At English International School, we believe that science is a way of making sense of the natural world and that it is our responsibility to prepare students to be scientifically literate in the 21st century. Our science curriculum ensures that students are knowledgeable about the important concepts and theories of three major branches of study: earth, life and physical sciences. Our students are taught to think scientifically and use scientiffic knowledge to make decisions about real world problems, become familiar with the natural world and respectful of its unity, diversity and fragility.
